Intensium® Benchmarking - BM

Benchmarking: What is it?

Benchmark refers to a measure of best practice performance. Benchmarking is allowing the hospitals to search for the best practices that yields the benchmark performance, with emphasis on how you can apply the process to achieve superior results. When establishing baselines for measures, best-practice organizations scrutinize historical data, performance data, survey results, industry benchmarks, quality monitoring, and other similar tools.

Intensium® BM Benchmarking is promoting healthcare organizations to make improvements in their care process performance generally by assessing where there are gaps between own performance and the other member's performance of the benchmarking consortium. Further, organizations can use these assessments to identify best practices, in particular the ones they would like their organization to adopt. Best practices are the cause of best performance. Studying best practices provides the greatest opportunity to gain an operational and medical advantage.

Benchmarking - a tool for continuous improvement

Intensium® BM -benchmarking services consist of two main elements.
  • Data collection
  • Reporting and analysis

The purpose of the data collection is to gather local data to a centralized database. The main idea is that the data will be entered only once. The data can be produced via web forms or via the automated data integration from the customers operations IT solution.

The reporting and analysis functions of the service allow the members of the consortium to observe the benchmarking information almost on real-time bases. The web based reporting allows a user for a quick and easy access to scientifically validated information.
